We installed HG1 in a 99 Chevy Malibu w/3100 eng. w/56,000 mi. on it to stop intake leak. I was not sure it would do the job but holy cow this really does work. It's now been 3,000 mi. with no more leak at all and didn't plug anything. I've been in this business since 1951 and have never seen anything like this product. I would recommend it to be used on any car.- Bill Best Best Auto REPAIR - Ithaca, NY
- Can Bar’s Leaks® Liquid Aluminum™be installed in existing antifreeze coolant?
Yes, Liquid Aluminum™ is specifically designed to be directly added to the cooling system without having to flush out the antifreeze. It also can be used in water alone. But if using in water, it is recommended that another bottle of Liquid Aluminum™ be added to the system once antifreeze is installed.
- Will it work in the new extended life antifreeze?
Yes, Liquid Aluminum™ works with all types of coolant including yellow, orange, pink, red, blue and green silicate based and non-silicate based OAT/HOAT antifreeze and/or water.
- Do I need to drain my cooling system after using Liquid Aluminum™?
No, this product is designed to be left in the cooling system to protect from future leaks and overheating.
- How long does it take to see results?
We recommend you drive/idle the vehicle for 10 to 20 minutes. In most cases the leak will be sealed instantly, but others will require up to 20 minutes. If the leak is not sealed in 20 minutes, a second application may be required or mechanical repair may be needed.
- Will Liquid Aluminum™ plug my heater core?
No, Bar’s Leaks® Liquid Aluminum™ Cooling System / Radiator Stop Leak product is part of the next generation stop leak line which is certified to be used in all cooling system types. It is guaranteed to safely and easily seal leaks in plastic, aluminum and metal (copper / steel) radiators, heater cores, gaskets and freeze plugs. Note: If using Bar’s Leaks® to stop heater core leaks, make sure you turn your heater control to HOT. Some vehicles have a valve that controls coolant flow through the core and is only opened in the HOT position.
- What are the dosage recommendations?
Use 1 (one) bottle for regular size cooling systems, this covers most 4, 6, 8 and 10 cylinder engines. Use 1⁄2 bottle for four cylinder engines. For larger systems, use 1 (one) bottle for every 3 gallons of cooling system capacity.
- How does Xtreme Cool™ make the vehicle run cooler?
The Xtreme Cool™ additive in Liquid Aluminum™ reduces the surface tension of coolant increasing the wetting ability. This improves heat transfer reducing coolant temperature helping to prevent overheating and leaks.
- Can I install Liquid Aluminum™ in my overflow reservoir?
Yes, if direct access to the radiator cap is not available, install in overflow / reservoir tank.
- Will this work in both domestic and import cars and trucks?
Yes, Liquid Aluminum™ will work in all types of water cooled vehicles.
- The bottle froze before I was able to use it, what can I do?
If the bottle did not break from freezing, just let the product thaw out, shake well, and use as normal.
- I accidently added the Liquid Aluminum™ into my gas tank, what should I do?
Liquid Aluminum™ is only designed to be added to the cooling system. If the product is accidently installed in the gas tank, the tank should be removed and cleaned out by a professional mechanic.
- I accidently added the Liquid Aluminum™ into my engine oil, what should I do?
If the product is accidently installed in the engine oil and the engine has not been started, in many cases you can remove the valve cover where installed and drain the oil leaving the drain plug off. Then use an engine flush washing out the head giving special attention to the oil return holes that run down to the oil pan. Clean these out and pour the engine flush down these holes flushing everything into the oil pan and out the drain hole. If the engine has been run, the vehicle needs to be towed to a professional mechanic for evaluation. This might include taking the engine apart to clean all of the internal parts.

“I decided to write to commend you for an outstanding product. I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM, V6 and with about 100,000 miles. About 6 months ago I had the Pontiac dealer flush the cooling system. I later noticed my car was slowly loosing coolant fluid with no evidence of a leak. At about the same time, my car developed an engine problem where it would misfire, rough idle when cold, and the Check Engine light would come on if I drove away too soon after starting the car. Unaware these problems were related, I had the Pontiac dealer replace the spark plugs and clean the fuel injectors per his recommendation. The problems did not go away even though I paid hundreds of dollars. To take care of the slow coolant leak, I decided to try Bar's Leaks Liquid Aluminum. To my surprise, the engine problem my car had went away the very next day, and my car is no longer loosing coolant fluid! I am totally amazed and thankful for your product! Its been two months now with my car running perfectly. After some research, it appears to me that my cars engine had some kind of a head gasket leak that got repaired by your amazing product.”
“I bought a bottle of Bar's Leaks Liquid Aluminum Radiator Seal at a local Napa store because I had a leaky water pump seal. The leak was so bad that I could only drive about ten miles before my coolant was gone and my engine would over heat. I am out of work so I really couldn't afford to get a new water pump installed. I had a 200 mile trip to make on the week end and a job interview Monday morning thinking my car was toast and I would miss everything. I bought the bars leaks liquid aluminum on the friday before, just after my car overheated so bad that I thought the head gasket would blow, and added it in the parking lot of Napa. Within minutes there were no leaks from the water pump or anywhere else. Saturday I made my 200 mile trip and stopped by on the way home at the Napa store to tell the sales person who showed me your product how great it worked. I've never been so impressed by a product that really does what it says it will do and I'm writing this to thank you for a product that really works.”
“I drive about 40,000 miles a year selling carpet for Empire. The company is great, but times are still a little tough out there. I have a 2000 Ford Tauras with 234,000 miles on it. (Bought used a few years ago.) I need my car to work and survive. A couple days ago I started getting a big blast of steam from the radiator when I stopped. I cannot afford another repair. Put your Liquid Aluiminum in today with great trepidation. Drove for 25 minutes and stopped. No steam. God bless you. Your product is awesome. I did not sleep at all last night. Now I am relaxed because of you. Thanks!!!”
“On our way from Phoenix, AZ in April of this year my 1987 Southwind motor home overheated and after having it checked by a mechanic was told the thermostat probably froze shut causing the engine to overheat. Also, he said the radiator and intake manifold were leaking. I asked if he could just add a sealer to the radiator to get me home since it would take a few days to fix the radiator and intake manifold. He said they had a very good commercial sealer he used before with some success. I decided to give it a try.
The next day when we left we didnt make it to Albuquerque, NM before it overheated again. I filled the radiator with water and drove to Albuquerque looking for an auto parts store to try another sealer. I stopped at an O'Reilly store and asked the sales person there if he had any success with the radiator sealers and he recommended your product. I put the sealer in and took off the next morning and drove all day without a problem. In fact we drove 2 more days until we got home without a problem. I was really impressed with your product and would recommend it to anyone who has a leaky radiator. I believe it was far superior to the commercial product we started with. Thanks again for your product.”
“I had a front cover coolant leak on 20 yr old Ford van. It was in a spot so difficult it took me an hour taking stuff off to get a look at it. 1 can of heavy duty slowed it down quite a bit but didnt stop it. I figured I had a huge repair on my hands and in desperation added I an additional can of Liquid Aluminum. The leak stopped during the first heat up cycle and has held for a week now. Your product has allowed me to keep my truck on the road as I would not be able to work on it for a few months till the weather got warm. Excellent product, I will recommend it to all.”
